Commercial Construction Superintendent – Mission Critical

A Superintendent directs the workflow of the project on site consistent with the project schedule and HITT safety and quality standards. The Superintendent provides leadership, serves as liaison between project team members, promotes business and client interests, and demonstrates leadership characteristics.

Responsibilities
  • Understand and administer the HITT safety program to all subcontractors, promptly report and investigate accidents/incidents, and assist in safety inspections.
  • Maintain HITT quality standards for all aspects of the project.
  • Serve as leader for on‑site safety, managing a safe jobsite for all involved.
  • Maintain daily log of all activities and site conditions, manage punch list and closeout process with owner/architect acceptance.
  • Work with the project manager to formulate project schedule, ensure proper methods and sequence of installation, make and follow schedule commitments, maintaining HITT quality standards.
  • Maintain good working relationships with all subcontractors, develop community relationships to enhance business opportunities, and treat subcontractors fairly.
  • Ensure complete, accurate daily documentation of work orders/tickets; understand subcontractor scope of work to avoid unnecessary change orders and identify problems early with immediate solutions.
  • Develop and organize the site team, arrange temporary facilities/utilities, identify long lead items that need expediting.
  • Collaborate with the project manager and site operations team throughout the life of the project.
Qualifications
  • A four‑year degree from an accredited university in construction, engineering, or business is strongly preferred (experience may substitute).
  • 5+ years’ experience in commercial construction, including tenant renovations, service work, work in occupied spaces, weekend work, and fast‑paced projects.
  • Mastery of building processes and best practices.
  • Ability to organize necessary resources, including people, tools, and time to meet tight deadlines.
  • Project lead experience (preferred). Superintendent experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with sector/project‑specific software systems:
    Microsoft Office Suite (Project, Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint), Pro Core, Adobe, Blue Beam, OSHA 30 (preferred).
  • Ability to walk/stand for long periods and lift up to 50lb.
  • Strong communication skills (clear, concise, professional, audience‑appropriate).
  • Positive attitude, passion for construction and industry.
  • Ability to gather data, interpret it, and communicate insights; see how pieces fit into the bigger picture.
  • Organize and manage tasks and priorities.
  • Demonstrate integrity with HITT Way and core values.
  • Commit to continuous improvement of knowledge and skills.
  • Adapt with technology, design, and methods.
  • Collaborate across backgrounds and styles.
  • Maintain respect: punctuality, engagement, and respect for others.
Compensation & Benefits

Base salary range (NYC): $ – $. Compensation varies in other locations. The determination of salary is based on candidate’s experience, qualifications, education, skills, and training.
