Heavy Civil Estimator – NYC

A growing heavy civil contractor is adding an experienced Estimator to its preconstruction team. This is a key role for someone who knows how to turn drawings, specifications, quantities, and subcontractor pricing into a competitive, accurate bid.

You will have the opportunity to work on major NYC civil and infrastructure pursuits and play a meaningful role in deciding which projects the company wins and builds.

• Prepare estimates for heavy civil and infrastructure projects
• Review drawings, specifications, bid documents, and scopes
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and cost analysis
• Develop labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor pricing
• Solicit and level subcontractor and supplier proposals
• Prepare bid summaries and final estimates
• Identify scope gaps, risks, opportunities, and value-engineering options
• Work closely with Operations and Project Management during pursuit and turnover

• 3+ years of heavy civil estimating experience
• Strong background in utilities, underground, excavation, transportation, water/sewer, or infrastructure
• Hands-on HCSS experience required — Heavy Bid experience strongly preferred
• Strong understanding of civil means & methods, production rates, labor, equipment, and materials
• NYC estimating / public works experience strongly preferred
• Ability to read and interpret complex civil plans and specifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred
