Azar Design Co., a multidisciplinary architecture, engineering, surveying, environmental, and construction management firm with over 45 years of experience, is motivated Field Surveyors / Survey Technicians to support a wide range of transportation, aviation, infrastructure, utility, and vertical construction projects throughout New York City and New York State. Field surveyors technicians will report directly to the Chief Surveyor, this position will perform field surveying activities, collect accurate survey data, assist with construction layout, and support project teams throughout all phases of construction.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform construction layout and staking for buildings, roadways, bridges, utilities, airports, rail, and site development projects.
- Establish and verify horizontal and vertical survey control using GPS, robotic total stations, digital levels, and electronic data collectors.
- Collect topographic, boundary, utility, and as-built survey data.
- Assist with construction stakeout for foundations, grading, drainage systems, utilities, paving, and structural elements.
- Operate survey instruments and maintain accurate field notes and electronic data files.
- Download, organize, and verify field data for processing and preparation of survey deliverables.
- Assist with quantity measurements, earthwork calculations, and field verification of construction progress.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, survey plans, and construction documents.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, contractors, inspectors, and field personnel to support project objectives.
- Maintain survey equipment and ensure instruments remain calibrated and in proper working condition.
- Perform work safely while complying with OSHA standards, company safety policies, and project-specific requirements.
- Travel to project sites throughout New York State as required.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or associate's degree in surveying, Civil Engineering Technology, Geomatics, or a related field preferred (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- 1–5 years of surveying or construction field experience preferred.
- Experience operating Total Stations, GPS equipment, digital levels, and electronic data collectors.
- Familiarity with construction layout, topographic surveys, boundary surveys, and as-built surveys.
- Basic understanding of NYSDOT Land Surveying Standards and construction surveying practices.
- Ability to read engineering drawings, construction plans, and survey control information.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Carlson Survey, Trimble Business Center, or similar software is a plus.
- Experience with laser scanning (LiDAR) and other advanced survey technologies is preferred but not required.
Requirement
- OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety Certification preferred (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
- Strong mathematical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and on active construction sites.
- Valid driver's license with the ability to travel throughout New York State based on project needs.
