Role Description The Safety Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in New York, NY. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring safety programs and policies across construction sites to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards. Day-to-day tasks include conducting site inspections, identifying potential hazards, and recommending corrective actions to prevent incidents. The Safety Manager will deliver safety training to staff and subcontractors, maintain safety documentation and records, and lead accident investigations to determine root causes and implement improvement measures.
The role collaborates closely with project managers, supervisors, and trades teams to promote a strong safety culture and continuous improvement in health and safety practices.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise in Occupational Health and Industrial Safety, with a focus on construction environments.
- Experience in Environment Health and Safety (EHS) program development and implementation.
- Strong skills in Safety Training design and delivery for diverse site teams.
- Proficiency in Accident Investigation, incident reporting, and corrective action planning.
- Knowledge of relevant OSHA regulations, local building codes, and industry safety standards.
- Ability to conduct risk assessments, safety audits, and hazard analyses on active job sites.
- Effective communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills to influence safe behaviors at all levels.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills, with attention to detail and follow-through.
- Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Professional certifications such as CSP, CHST, or OSHA 30-hour/510 are highly beneficial.
