the new york city department of transportation, division of bridges is responsible for managing the full life cycle of over 800 bridges and tunnels and over 600 retaining walls, ensuring safety of the public and ensuring mobility for all users. Team members may work on major project designs, oversee construction, oversee maintenance activities, perform engineering reviews and quality assurance tasks on some of the most iconic and complex projects in the city.

Under the direction of the engineer in charge (eic), this position serves as a associate project manager level ii in the monitoring and survey unit of the bureau of engineering review and support. The successful candidate will perform field surveys and visual inspections of bridges and retaining walls. Monitors cracks and movements in bridge structures as well as foundation settlement.

Surveys bridge girder alignments and twisted movements in steel girders and floor beams due to accidents. Verifies field elevations to find existing vertical clearances of bridge structures. Operates survey equipment and office software for efficient monitoring of bridges and retaining walls. The candidate will collect field data and create a project database for each project. Other related duties may be assigned as necessary.

one year of full-time satisfactory experience in supervising employees performing project management work, such as planning, administering, managing, coordinating, or expediting, on engineering and/or architectural and/or landscape architectural projects, or supervising a construction project with a value of $1,000,000 or more, and either:
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in engineering, engineering technology, architecture, landscape architecture, architectural technology, construction, construction management, construction technology, sustainable design, urban planning, urban studies, city planning, transportation planning, business administration, or public administration, and one year of full-time satisfactory experience in project management work, such as planning, administering, managing, coordinating, or expediting, for engineering and/or architectural and/or landscape architectural projects;

or
2. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and five years of experience as described in "1" above; or
3. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent plus any combination of college or university education and/or experience described in "1" above to make up the equivalent of five years of education and experience.
