Job Details:
Our company is on the hunt for a dynamic, experienced and detail-oriented Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates for various commercial construction projects, including but not limited to industrial, electrical, mechanical, MEP, and plumbing. This role requires a deep understanding of the construction industry and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, where accuracy and efficiency are paramount.
The successful candidate will be a key player in our team, contributing to the successful bidding and execution of projects.
- 1. Prepare detailed cost estimates by analyzing plans and specifications and performing quantity take-offs for commercial, industrial, electrical, mechanical, MEP, and plumbing projects.
- 2. Evaluate and present or negotiate contract terms in conjunction with the project manager and legal team.
- 3. Conduct a thorough risk analysis for each project.
- 4. Collaborate with architects, engineers, clients, contractors, and subcontractors on project cost estimates.
- 5. Maintain a comprehensive database of updated project costs, including all aspects of labor, materials, equipment, and time required.
- 6. Prepare and submit budget estimates, progress reports, and cost tracking reports.
- 7. Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and contractors to ensure competitive pricing.
- 8. Attend site visits and proposal meetings as necessary to assist in the preparation of estimates.
- 9. Conduct ongoing review of project status; identify potential issues and proactively work with the project team to resolve.
- 10. Coordinate with the project management team on change orders and contract amendments.
- 1. Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial construction estimating.
- 2. Proven experience in estimating commercial, industrial, electrical, mechanical, MEP, and plumbing projects.
- 3. Union experience is a plus.
- 4. Strong knowledge of the construction industry, including construction contracts, material, equipment, project management, etc.
- 5. Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
- 6. Excellent mathematical skills and spatial awareness.
- 7. Proficient in relevant software, including estimating, project management, and financial analysis software.
- 8. Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- 9. Ability to read and understand blueprints, schematics, and construction documents.
- 10. Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field is preferred.
