Role Overview

A leading mechanical contractor in Long Island is seeking an experienced Mechanical Estimator to join its preconstruction team in Nassau County.

The successful candidate will prepare accurate and competitive estimates across commercial projects, with a focus on HVAC, piping, plumbing, and associated mechanical systems.

This is a strong opportunity for an estimator with solid mechanical construction knowledge and experience pricing projects within the New York market.

• Preparing estimates and cost proposals for a range of mechanical projects.
• Completing material and labor takeoffs from drawings and specifications.
• Reviewing bid documents to identify scope requirements and potential risks.
• Sourcing and evaluating pricing from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Developing bid clarifications, exclusions, and value-engineering options.
• Working with preconstruction and operations teams through bid submission and project handover.
• Maintaining current knowledge of labor, material, and equipment costs.

• 5+ years of mechanical estimating experience within the construction industry.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, piping, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
• Good understanding of labor rates, material pricing, equipment, and project costs.
• Experience with estimating/takeoff software and Bluebeam is advantageous.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and communication skills.
