I’m currently working with a NYC-based General Contractor that is looking to add an experienced Assistant Project Manager to their growing team.
The company has a strong pipeline of ground-up construction projects across multifamily residential, affordable housing and mixed-use developments, offering an excellent opportunity for an APM looking to take the next step in their career.
The RoleAs an Assistant Project Manager, you will work closely with the Project Manager, Superintendent, subcontractors, consultants and client teams to support the successful delivery of projects from preconstruction through completion.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting the Project Manager with the day-to-day management of ground-up construction projects
- Assisting with project budgets, schedules and overall project coordination
- Reviewing drawings, specifications, RFIs and submittals
- Preparing, tracking and distributing RFI and submittal logs
- Assisting with change orders, requisitions and payment applications
- Reviewing subcontractor scopes, contracts and commitments
- Coordinating with subcontractors, architects, engineers and consultants
- Attending and contributing to project meetings and coordination meetings
- Assisting with project scheduling and monitoring progress against key milestones
- Reviewing subcontractor work and ensuring documentation is maintained
- Supporting the Project Manager with cost control and forecasting
- Maintaining accurate project documentation and records
- Helping identify potential project issues and working with the team to resolve them
- Assisting through closeout, punch list and turnover
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of construction experience
- Ground-up construction experience strongly preferred
- Experience with multifamily, affordable housing or mixed-use projects is highly desirable
- Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications and project documentation
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering or a related field is preferred but not essential
