An experienced & growing heavy civil contractor is looking for an experienced Superintendent to lead field operations on major water, sewer, utility, and infrastructure projects throughout New York City.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who understands what it takes to deliver complex utility work in one of the most demanding construction environments in the country.
What You'll Do- Lead day-to-day field operations on major NYC utility projects
- Manage foremen, subcontractors, crews, equipment, and site logistics
- Coordinate installation and rehabilitation of water mains, sewer, stormwater, and underground utilities
- Work directly with Project Managers, engineers, inspectors, subcontractors, and owners
- Coordinate with NYC DEP and other city agencies throughout project execution
- Read and interpret plans, specifications, contract documents, and utility drawings
- Develop short-term schedules and manage daily production
- Coordinate shutdowns, tie-ins, excavation, trenching, bypass operations, and utility relocations
- Maintain high standards for safety, quality, production, and schedule
- Identify field issues quickly and develop solutions that keep the project moving
- 8+ years of heavy civil construction experience
- Proven experience leading utility / water & sewer projects
- NYC DEP project experience strongly preferred
- Experience working with NYC agencies, inspectors, engineers, and public stakeholders
- Strong knowledge of underground utility installation, excavation, trench safety, shoring, and site logistics
- Experience managing crews and subcontractors on complex urban projects
- Ability to read and interpret civil/utility drawings and specifications
- Strong understanding of project scheduling, production, and field coordination
- OSHA 30 and NYC public works/site safety experience preferred
- Ability to manage projects in the $20M-$80M+ range is a major plus
- Base salary between $180k - $220k
- Annual bonus
