Location: New York
The Assistant Engineer (Civil/Construction) position with the New York Office of General Services supervises and inspects building construction projects of moderate size and complexity. The role coordinates contractor work, performs field inspections, reviews construction documentation, and manages project records while ensuring compliance with contract requirements. This is a field-based, full-time position located in the Cortland Manor or Fishkill areas requiring approximately 50% travel.
Keyqualifications:
- Passing the NCEES Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Examination and a qualifying bachelor's degree in engineering or related field
- One year of full-time engineering experience in construction project supervision of building structural and architectural elements (if no qualifying degree)
- Valid New York State Driver's License or demonstrated capacity to meet transportation needs
- Ability to travel approximately 50% for field-based work
- Current New York State employee with one year of Grade 18+ permanent service eligible for transfer (alternative pathway)
