Supervisor Dockbuilder

Under general direction, reporting directly to the Director of Ferry Operations, supervises the work of a group of Dock builders and other workers, including but not limited to Crane Operators, Tractor Operators, and Oilers, involved in the construction, maintenance and repair of the waterfront structures at the Staten Island Ferry; performs related work.

• Supervises the Dockbuilding Unit of the Staten Island Ferry. Assigns, directs, and inspects the work of Dock builders, pile driver crews and derrick crews in the construction, maintenance and repair of wharves, ferry racks, piers, docks (both timber and concrete), bulkheads, platforms, and other waterfront structures. Supervises operations involved in pile driving, shoring, demolition, dredging, and associated activities. Enforces safety precautions at work sites to safeguard life and property.
  
  Prepares requisitions for materials and equipment. Keeps records and makes reports.

• Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Maximo, City Time, and other computer programs.

SUPERVISOR DOCKBUILDER - 92072

One (1) year of permanent service in the title of Dock builder.

LICENSE REQUIREMENT:
Preference will be given to candidate who possess a motor vehicle driver's license valid in the state of New York, with no restrictions. This license must be maintained throughout duration of employment in this position.

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
