This role is about delivering professional-grade technical theatre support to our Bronx K-12 campus and guiding theatre objectives across the campus.

The Bronx K-12 Technical Theatre Supervisor is a school-based role that oversees technical theatre activities for the auditorium and provides supplemental guidance to K-12 Bronx Campus technical theatre objectives. This role reports to Success Academy’s Theater Program Manager. It is a salary-based position and requires attendance at rehearsals after school hours and occasionally other duties during the day related to production assembly and maintenance.

This role is managed by the Theater Program Manager.

Roles and Responsibilities

We are seeking a results-driven Technical Theatre Supervisor to serve as the resident technical expert and facility manager for our Bronx K-12 campus. This is a leadership role that ensures scholars perform in professional-grade environments. You will be responsible for the end-to-end technical execution of theatrical productions, high-stakes keynote events, and daily school-wide assemblies.

1. Technical Design & Production Execution
  • Lighting Design:
    Conceptualize, hang, circuit, and program lighting plots for all campus productions. Proficient in the ETC ecosystem, including EOS-family consoles.
  • Sound Engineering:
    Manage live sound reinforcement and playback, including mic’ing performers, mixing on Yamaha digital consoles, and maintaining signal chain integrity.
  • Multimedia & Projection:
    Oversee integration of digital media, projection mapping, and QLab (or similar) workflows for performances and presentations.
  • Rigging & Safety:
    Maintain and operate theatrical rigging systems, ensuring overhead equipment is secured and meets industry safety standards.
2. Asset Management & Operations
  • Preventative Maintenance:
    Establish a rigorous schedule for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining all AV and stage equipment (lighting fixtures, wireless mics, cables, scenic tools).
  • Inventory Control:
    Maintain a digital inventory of technical assets; oversee procurement of expendables and advise on long-term capital equipment upgrades.
  • Space Stewardship:
    Act as the “warden” of the auditorium; ensure the space is strike-ready after events and that safety protocols are followed by staff.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership:
    Collaborate with the School Operations Team to schedule space usage and meet the technical needs of non-theatre events.
  • Educational Support:
    Provide supplemental guidance and on-the-job training to theatre teachers or scholars interested in the technical arts.
  • Rehearsal & Event Supervision:
    Manage technical requirements for after-school rehearsals and performances, ensuring a professional atmosphere.
Candidate Requirements Technical Expertise
  • Professional Pedigree:
    Significant professional credit in technical theatre or a degree from a rigorous technical theatre program.
  • Console Mastery:
    Proven experience programming on ETC lighting boards and mixing on Yamaha digital sound boards.
  • Versatility:
    Ability to pivot from fine-tuning lighting cues to manual assembly and maintenance.
  • Ethos:

Physical & Logistical Requirements
  • Valid Driver’s License:
    Required for travel between sites or obtaining supplies.
  • Physicality:
    Ability to lift up to 40 lbs, climb ladders, and work in elevated spaces (grids/catwalks).
  • Flexibility:
    Availability for evening and occasional weekend hours to support the production calendar.

Exact compensation may vary based on skills and experience.

Compensation Range: $75,000 - $75,000 USD
