Rogue Theater Festival – Submissions Open for Eighth Annual Festival

Now accepting new works for the eighth annual and uniquely hybrid Rogue Theater Festival. Rogue is looking for new works by emerging and established writers and artists to present live OR virtually for an audience. We encourage anyone who feels they have a story to tell to submit their piece to the festival.

This year Rogue is proud to be accepting Fully Staged One Act Shows, Staged Reading One Act Shows, A Series of Short Shows and Digital Streaming Full Length Shows to present over a TWO week period at The Flea in NYC and Streaming on CUR

  • Scenarios Available: Participants may choose to participate in our Live in Person Scenario in NYC (staged reading, fully staged production or short show) OR our Digital Scenario (remote filming anywhere in the world and virtual streaming).
  • Performances: August 3–16, 2026. Fully Staged Shows will have 1 performance;
    Staged Readings will have 1 presentation;
    Short Shows will have 3 performances;
    Digital Shows will stream on demand.
  • Marketing: Rogue supplies marketing for the festival as a whole and select opportunities for individual shows.
  • Tech: Each LIVE show will get one technical rehearsal at The Flea in NYC. Fully Staged Shows will have 5 hours, Staged Readings will have 3 hours, and Shorts will have 1 hour.
  • Digital Streaming: Each show will provide Rogue Theater Festival with an edited piece to be included in the final festival package.
  • To Know: Playwrights and Producers are fully responsible for putting up their production (e.g., Director, union contracts if using union members, rehearsal space, transportation, salaries, marketing, costumes, casting, etc.).
  • To Know: There is a one-time, nonrefundable participation fee. Each show must sell a minimum number of tickets to receive a percentage of box office.

FULLY STAGED – Details

  • Participants will perform their piece at The Flea in Soho, New York City, in “The Siggy” space with front of house, design, and technical staff provided. They will be assigned a date/time and attend a tech rehearsal prior to performance.
  • Participants must submit lighting and sound design desires (along with MP3s) before their technical rehearsal.
  • Sound design will be prepared for the tech date; the Director and Lighting Designer will program cues and a professional Stage Manager will run all cues.
  • Each show must sell a minimum of 25 tickets or participate in a buyout; they will then receive 15% of all ticket sales after the minimum is reached.
  • There is a one-time, nonrefundable participation fee of $500. You do NOT need to pay to submit your play, only if you plan to participate in the festival.

STAGED READING – Details

  • Participants will perform their piece at The Flea in Soho, New York City, in “The Pete” space with staff provided. They will be assigned a date/time and attend a tech rehearsal prior to performance.
  • Participants must submit lighting and sound design desires (MP3s) before their technical rehearsal.
  • Sound design will be prepared for the tech date; the Director and Lighting Designer will program cues and a professional Stage Manager will run all cues.
  • Each show must sell a minimum of 15 tickets or participate in a buyout; they will then receive 15% of all ticket sales after the minimum is reached.
  • There is a one-time, nonrefundable participation fee of $225. You do NOT need to pay to submit your play, only if you plan to participate in the festival.

SERIES OF SHORTS – Details

  • Participants will perform their piece at The Flea in Soho, New York City, in “The Siggy” space with staff provided. They will be assigned a date/time and attend a tech rehearsal prior to performance.
