Position Summary

The Director of Visual Merchandising will lead conceptualizing, designing, and standardizing retail design solutions that support the overall brand strategy and vision. They will act as an expert design lead, overseeing architecture as it relates to visual merchandising, safeguarding brand integrity, and ensuring all MAC retail formats meet brand standards and aesthetics across regions.

Responsibilities
  • Own and drive high‑profile global in‑store initiatives, partnering with Creative Ops, Marketing, Product Marketing, GTM, , and SD to realize design and strategic vision.
  • Develop best‑in‑class, consumer‑centric, innovative merchandising designs aligned with brand goals.
  • Create cross‑selling merchandising solutions that tell a story, communicate clearly, and feature bold graphics.
  • Build productive relationships with Regional Visual Merchandising and Store Design teams to ensure consistent brand guideline execution.
  • Lead design concept direction, wireframes, and approval processes.
  • Maintain graphic templates, guidelines, 2D planograms, and graphic databases for regions.
  • Distribute production graphics under strict deadlines.
  • Present projects to senior management, answer questions, and incorporate feedback.
  • Collaborate with Editorial, Product & Consumer Marketing teams to optimize product displays.
  • Partner with Corporate Procurement to source fixtures/materials, promoting sustainability and cost‑effectiveness.
  • Build relationships with vendors and RDDC to uphold quality, brand standards, and best practices.
  • Initiate region‑specific requests with ED and global brand approval.
  • Motivate teams, inspire performance, and secure buy‑in on projects.
  • Assess creative requests and produce initial design proposals with minimal direction.
  • Present concepts to all management levels.
  • Stay current on visual art and merchandising trends; travel to observe stores.
Qualifications
  • 8+ years of graphic design experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Industrial Design, Store Design, or Visual Merchandising. Equivalent experience considered.
  • Prior beauty industry experience required.
  • Experience with visual merchandising design, including tester displays and open sell.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), Rhino, Sketch Up, and Key Shot.
  • Strong multitasking, time‑management, and deadline‑meeting skills.
  • Self‑starter, flexible, imaginative, with 3D design knowledge.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Knowledge of retail trends and open sell environments.
  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills.
  • Innovative thinker with ability to collaborate across levels and functions.
Pay Range

Base salary range: $ – $. Salary varies by experience, skills, education, and geographic location. Position also eligible for bonus program and share incentive plan.
