How You’ll Make An Impact

Work both in the studio and behind the scenes on a variety of programs and initiatives across the Sirius

XM platform. Responsible for the operation and quality of studio equipment during live and pre-recorded programs. Learn basic troubleshooting elements of studio equipment and setups. Assist on-demand/metadata team with their needs. Incumbents of this position may be assigned to more than one program and perform slightly different functions across programs.

What You’ll Do
  • Check studio equipment for proper functionality, reporting technical problems and equipment malfunctions to broadcast ops, keeping detailed notes and escalations.
  • Run the audio console for various live and taped programs.
  • Edit audio for on-air use.
  • Keep detailed books on all onsite programming.
  • Ensure that on-air product is up to broadcast standards before it goes to air.
  • Work with programmers and talent on following onsite SOP operationally.
  • Work with producers, talent, and directors to enhance program content.
  • Ensure audio QC is up to broadcast standards.
  • Screen incoming calls and selectively choose callers to go on-air as needed.
  • Assist with some pre- and post-show production, including editing and swiping shows for On Demand, as well as other physical operational functions as needed.
  • Assist in training initiatives for staff that may include in-studio and remote presentations.
  • Work on special projects designed to improve the listener or onsite experience.
  • Learn troubleshooting techniques of console, Adobe suite, VSM panel, DJ equipment, codecs, Zetta operating system and other in-house technical elements.
  • Provide all-around support during high-profile events and high-volume performance days.
  • Work with On-Demand/Metadata team to assist with Broadview, program type ingestion, user account upkeep, archival maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What You’ll Need
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of experience running an audio board.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a professional broadcast environment (Radio/TV/Digital), preferably News/Talk or Sports formats.
  • Flexible schedule with ability to workdays, nights, and weekends.
  • Must be able to work in all areas of Music, Talk and Entertainment Programming, including news, politics, and pop culture.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and multi-task.
  • Ability to work with talent and other high-profile individuals.
  • Good public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to interact and work with staff at all levels.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to pay attention to details and be organized.
  • Ability to project professionalism over the phone and in person.
  • Willingness to take initiative and to follow through on projects.
  • Must have legal right to work in the U.S.
Technical Skills
  • Previous use of broadcast operation software (Zetta, Prophet, Dalet, Nex Gen, etc.).
  • Familiarity with digital audio editing software (One Cut, Audition, Pro Tools, etc).
  • General knowledge related to operating studio console and sound equipment.
