Straub Collaborative is seeking an experienced Photo Art Director to support our creative production studio on a part‑time, as‑needed basis. This role provides senior‑level creative leadership during active production periods, directing visual execution from concept through delivery. This position is ideal for highly experienced Art Directors seeking flexible, project‑based work rather than a fixed full‑time schedule.

The Photo Art Director ensures visual consistency, creative quality, and clear direction across production teams, helping projects run efficiently and meet established creative standards.

• Develop and execute creative concepts for photography and video projects
• Translate briefs and style guides into clear direction for production teams
• Direct on‑set creative execution and ensure adherence to visual standards
• Communicate creative expectations to all team members on set
• Make image selects and provide creative cropping guidance
• Oversee post‑production feedback to maintain quality standards
• Lead presentations and communicate creative rationale to stakeholders
• Partner with cross‑functional teams to resolve production challenges
• Manage multiple projects during active production periods

These responsibilities align with leading projects from initial concept through final delivery while maintaining quality and consistency.

• Bachelor’s degree in Fine Art, Graphic Design, Photography, Video Production, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 8–10 years of experience developing visual concepts and creative strategies
• Demonstrated experience directing photography or video productions
• Strong portfolio demonstrating high‑quality art direction work
• Deep knowledge of studio lighting, photography, and video production processes
• Proficiency with design and presentation tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Keynote, PowerPoint)
• Excellent communication and leadership skills
• Ability to perform effectively in fast‑paced production environments

• Experience in e‑commerce or retail visual production
• Experience leading presentations and creative discussions
• Strong understanding of visual storytelling and brand consistency
• Experience working in deadline‑driven production environments

A portfolio is required for consideration. Applicants must submit a link to an online portfolio demonstrating relevant work in photography and/or video art direction, including examples of concept development, on‑set direction, and final outcomes.

• Part‑time, variable‑hour role
• No guaranteed minimum hours
• Temporary assignment anticipated to last approximately 6 months, with potential for extension
• Work scheduled based on production needs
• Must be available to work on‑site in New York City when scheduled
• Advance notice will be provided when possible
