DescriptionRadiolab, a pioneer of narrative nonfiction podcasting, is looking for an Assistant Producer to join our team. The Assistant Producer will support the show’s overall production logistics and work closely with the Radiolab production team to facilitate the weekly delivery of episode releases across podcast, broadcast, and digital platforms. This person will be an ambitious, deep‑thinking, deep‑feeling entry‑level journalist obsessed with helping assemble the pieces that make great stories.
The role expects hard work and a willingness to pitch in on all aspects of the production process.
- Assist in production, format, delivery and quality control of Radiolab broadcast and syndication episodes for distribution
- Produce Radiolab fundraising spots and sponsorship messages.
- Produce weekly newsletters for Radiolab and Terrestrials
- Assist with social media posts across platforms, coordinating copy and visual assets
- Manage the Radiolab and Terrestrials email inboxes
- Assist with music licensing, rights tracking, and production documentation as needed.
- Maintain organized archives of broadcast, rerun, and campaign materials.
- Support new episode production with studio bookings and cutting selects, as needed
- 1–3 years of experience in audio production, broadcast operations, or podcasting.
- Proficiency in Pro Tools or comparable editing software.
- Experience with booking, pre‑interviewing, tape cutting, and host collaboration
- Top‑notch organizational skills, attention to detail, deadlines, and time‑management
- Familiarity with broadcast formatting, promo production, and fundraising campaigns.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
- Enthusiasm for both science‑driven storytelling and creative problem‑solving.
- Independent work ethic combined with a love for and patience with the collaborative process
This is a full‑time non‑exempt role with a minimum hourly rate of $37.63 ($68,492 annualized), plus a full benefits package. The rate offered is determined by skills, experience, and organizational pay equity. This role is based in New York City and is expected to work at our NYC Headquarters two days per week.
The position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement between New York Public Radio and SAG‑AFTRA.
