Why This Role Matters

Christie’s is seeking a highly creative and experienced Senior Print Designer specializing in art catalogue design and premium print productions. The ideal candidate understands the art world deeply and can translate curatorial narratives, specialist insights, and top-value artwork into innovative, refined and highly collectible printed publications.

This role requires someone who can think beyond traditional print design, crafting special covers, box sets, sleeves, and other bespoke formats, while overseeing the entire catalogue process from concept development through final production. You will collaborate closely with art specialists, writers, editors, photographers, photo retouchers, and printers in a fast-paced environment and must be confident presenting your work to non-designers and stakeholders.

How

You'll Make An Impact
  • Lead the design and layout of art catalogues, and unique print projects from conceptualization through final output.
  • Create and produce printed “mock catalogues” for client pitches.
  • Create visually compelling cover designs, full catalogue layouts, and integrated visual narratives.
  • Develop design systems, grids, typographic hierarchy tailored to each collection catalogue.
  • Develop branding for sale titles and color palettes.
  • Conceptualize and execute special print features including custom sleeves, box sets, embossed/debossed covers, foil treatments, and other collectible formats.
  • Select and recommend paper stocks, materials, and finishes appropriate to each project.
  • Prepare accurate production‑ready files and manage all aspects of prepress, including color management and file optimization.
  • Communicate directly with printers, and oversee proofing, color checks, and quality control.
  • Work quickly and collaboratively with department specialists and internal teams to meet tight deadlines.
  • Present design concepts and layout approach clearly to non-design stakeholders.
  • Manage timelines, organize project assets, and support collaboration across the design team.
  • Stay informed on current trends, innovations in printing, materials, bookmaking, and art publication design.
What You'll Bring To The Team
  • 5‑7+ years of professional print design experience within museums, galleries, auction houses, publishers, or cultural institutions.
  • A strong portfolio showcasing art catalogues, books, and high‑end editorial design (required).
  • Demonstrated ability to conceptualize and produce files for specialty printing techniques (debossing, embossing, foil stamping, custom bindings, unique paper stocks).
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop; strong understanding of color management and prepress workflows.
  • Deep knowledge of print production, typography, materials, and book design best practices.
  • Experienced in communicating with printers, reviewing proofs, and managing production processes.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and ability to work at speed while maintaining quality.
  • Ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to receive and welcome feedback, weather it is from the Creative Director Specialists.
  • A deep passion for print, art, design, and storytelling.
  • Experience with photography retouching and image optimization.
  • Ability to render catalogue covers or mockups as 3D visuals for client previews.
