PEOPLE Digital is hiring an Associate Director, Social Video. This role will lead creative strategies to drive video views, engagements and revenue across Tik Tok, Instagram, Facebook and more. The person will work closely with the newsroom, video team, events, marketing/sales, PR and the rest of the social org. Strong news judgment, video editing and production skills, creative thinking and understanding of social media strategies and industry trends are essential.

We are looking for someone who can generate viral wins for the brand, harness PEOPLE’s loyal audience and attract new followers.

As Associate Director, you will manage a team of 5+ social video producers and editors working around the clock across coasts. The role requires excellent communication skills, a passion for entertainment, pop culture and the ability to coach reporters and social producers on capturing high‑quality footage at high‑profile events.

The ideal candidate will be adept at reviewing raw footage, selecting impactful clips, and optimizing content for each social platform. Experience creating original, social‑first video concepts and collaborating with celebrities and influencers is a plus. You will manage a pipeline of social‑first pitches from reporters, writers and editors across the PEOPLE newsroom, overseeing concepts from ideation to execution while staying current with internet culture and the news cycle.

This position is hybrid – in‑office in the New York Office 3 days a week, with the ability to work remotely up to 2 days per week.

The social team creates, programs and analyzes performance of PEOPLE content across platforms including Instagram, Facebook, Tik Tok, Threads, X, Reddit and more.

• Manage strategy and deliver growth as well as analytics/insights for PEOPLE’s social video accounts (30%).
• Personnel management, staffing of live events, and coverage plans for tentpoles, exclusives and breaking news situations (30%).
• Assign, review and approve social video drafts (20%).
• Collaborate with marketing and sales on execution of sold campaigns and partnership opportunities (10%).
• Brainstorm signature video franchises and concepts to attract new followers and secure routine wins (10%).

BA or BS and/or equivalent experience.

3‑5 years of working in an editor or producer capacity for digital media or social.

• Strong knowledge of entertainment, pop culture, and the PEOPLE brand.
• Expertise with generating revenue through social and social video.
• Experience building and presenting social analytics and reporting/insights.
• An idea generator who can think of new, fresh social and video concepts.
• Proficiency in Adobe Premiere, Photoshop, social media and video scripting.
• Experience creating and uploading Tik Tok videos and Instagram Reels.
• Love for digital video and an eye on trends in the industry.
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to work well in a creative, collaborative, fast‑paced environment.
• High organization with excellent follow‑through.
• Staff management experience is required.
