Company DescriptionThe Forum on Life, Culture & Society (FOLCS) is a nonprofit arts and events organization committed to making ideas and conversation both entertaining and smart, while improving the quality of public debate. Our diverse public programming, usually referred to as “Conversations,” engages notable speakers in dynamic discussions on the big ideas and issues shaping our cultural landscape. Over the past 20 years, we have hosted former U.S. Presidents;
Supreme Court Justices; governors and congresspersons; actors and directors; recipients of Nobel Prizes, Oscars, Emmys, Tonys, National Book Awards, and Pulitzers Prizes; and a wide range of public intellectuals.
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Assistant Producer to assist with programming and seamless event production, social media strategy and content creation, communications with key stakeholders, and support in partnership management and operations. This role is ideal for someone with strong organizational and creative skills, cultural interest, and social media expertise who thrives in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
Responsibilities- Event Development:
Assist in the creative conception, development, and execution of FOLCS’ public events programming. - Social Media Content Creation:
Design and post promotional graphics and reels for events and other content related to FOLCS’ past events and guests. Design graphics for our website. Contribute to the creation of You Tube clips and thumbnails. Collaborate with the Managing Director on social media strategy across our platforms, including Instagram, facebook, X, Bluesky, Linked In, and You Tube. - Digital Fundraising Campaigns:
Collaborate with the Managing Director on strategy and implementation of fundraising campaigns on our various digital platforms. - Event Production:
Work closely with the Creative Director, Managing Director, and Digital Media Team, as well as event guest speakers, to ensure smooth and engaging events that align with FOLCS' mission. Contribute to the success of event logistics, including scheduling, coordination with talent, and production needs before, during, and after events. - Partnerships & Outreach:
Assist in building and maintaining relationships with key partners and venues. Support in the execution of partnership initiatives and ensure deliverables are met. - Operational & Administrative Support:
Assist in tracking project progress, maintaining schedules, and managing deliverables. Contribute to Board meetings by preparing materials and providing updates on key projects. Support CRM activities, including managing contacts, sending emails, and maintaining event records. Manage mail retrieval.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Experience: 1+ years in event production, partnerships, or communications, ideally in nonprofit or arts-related settings.
- Skills: Strong organizational and multitasking abilities. Strong time-management skills. Expertise on social media platforms, including Instagram, facebook, X, Bluesky, Linked In, and You Tube. Proficiency with CRM systems, event planning tools, and Microsoft Office/Google Suite.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact respectfully and diplomatically with diverse stakeholders. Takes initiative to build new relationships and partnerships to benefit FOLCS.
- Problem-Solving: Creative thinker with the ability to adapt to changing circumstances and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
