Description
The Associate Designer, Juniors will work closely with the Design Director to develop a trend-forward, young adult ready-to-wear collection with a strong focus on knit and woven dresses, sets, and bottoms. This role is responsible for delivering fast, accurate, and commercially viable designs for a high-volume mass‑market customer, including Walmart.

Responsibilities- Design trend‑right juniors’ ready‑to‑wear apparel, producing fast, accurate sketches using Adobe Illustrator
- Develop designs across knit and woven categories, with an emphasis on dresses, sets, and bottoms
- Manage daily design responsibilities and timelines to ensure all critical milestones and deadlines are met
- Conduct in‑depth trend, market, and competitive research; present brand‑right concepts aligned with customer expectations and vendor capabilities
- Create, update, and maintain detailed technical packs in PLM, clearly communicating design intent and specifications
- Partner closely with the Design Director to support clear communication with overseas vendors and respond to customer feedback in a timely manner
- Collaborate with the Graphic Design team to align on print, pattern, and graphic direction
- Review samples, troubleshoot issues, and resolve design challenges while maintaining design integrity, cost targets, and production timelines
- Maintain organized documentation, notes, and project tracking in a high‑volume, fast‑paced environment
- Stay current on market trends through regular trend shopping, competitive analysis, and market research
- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Apparel Design, or a related field
- 4+ years of full‑time professional experience in apparel design, preferably within juniors’ and/or knit and woven categories
- Strong understanding of garment construction and apparel manufacturing processes
- Exceptional organizational and time‑management skills with strong attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with internal teams, factories, and vendors
- Strong critical thinking and problem‑solving skills with a proactive, solution‑oriented mindset
- Curiosity, enthusiasm, and a passion for staying ahead of fashion trends
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator; experience with PLM systems strongly preferred
4 days a week in the office, Fridays at home
Pay RateNew York Pay Rate $55,000 - $68,000
