Weekend Line Producer

Core Duties and Responsibilities

• Generate story ideas through research from social media, newswires, websites, and contacts.
• Identify impactful news stories that result in provocative, compelling television.
• Delegate responsibilities as appropriate to associate producers, assignment editors, and video editors.
• Produce timely content under heavy deadline pressure.
• Keen awareness of current events and politics.
• Attend editorial meetings.
• Excel in a highly competitive, deadline-driven environment.
• Possess strong writing skills, including the ability to master tease writing.
• Use sound editorial judgment and attention to detail to ensure standards are met.
• Interact with viewers and users on social media sites.
• Responsible for producing segments from start to finish, including scripts, ordering of elements, and guest pre-interviews.

• 3+ years’ experience in line producing.
• Schedule is Wed-Sun. Ability to work varying shifts including early mornings and weekends.
• Must have control room experience.
• Must have editorial experience working with live TV national or large market news.
• Must have breaking news experience.
• Must be able to think and react quickly.
• Ability to produce content under heavy deadline pressure.
• Capability to collect and analyze information accurately.
• Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, business, or a related field.
• Excellent writing and verbal skills are required.
• Strong organizational skills required.
