Job Description
Seeking an experienced Junior Designer for our Young Men's apparel company located in midtown NYC.
Responsibilities:
- Maintains strong knowledge in young men’s, men’s, and / or boys market to identify and incorporate new materials, construction, colors, and design trends.
- In partnership with the design team, researches and analyzes market trends, internal/external product feedback, and sales performance to identify product development opportunities that meet the needs of our customers.
- Designs and draws production sketches (cads) with support for design and creates tech packs. Responsible for executing individual designs.
- Responsible for executing seasonal color palettes and the creation of colored merchandising story with product sketches that align with relevant seasonal trends.
- Completes all product lines (finished styles, samples, and colors) in accordance with product development timeline.
- Develops and tracks product schedule to ensure timely production from design packages and tech packs to final size set samples according to the development calendar.
- Tracks delivery schedule for entire product development cycle.
- Creates, maintains and publishes digital and physical records associated with styles including but not limited to measurements, Bill of Materials, technical sketches, master measurement charts, comments and revisions, competitive shops, and associated samples.
- Evaluates and approves production via photographs or physical samples.
- Creates and maintains product details and partners cross-functionally with design and production departments to communicate all technical details, construction techniques, etc.
- Manages complete product creation cycle of all in-house brands and private label products from materials and trims to constructions.
- Must have a strong understanding of raw materials, garment construction, sewing techniques, factory skill, and product creation processes and the ability to scale with integrity in each of these processes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- 4+ years of experience in design.
- Basic knowledge of technical design / ability to measure basic POM’s.
- Proficient in analytical thinking, project coordination, and organizational management.
- Experience in the young mens and men’s fashions. Boys experience is a plus.
We are on-site on Mondays to Thursdays, remote on Fridays.
