Duration: Maternity leave coverage beginning June
Pay: $43/hr
Location: NYC – Hybrid (Tuesday–Thursday onsite; Monday & Friday remote, with occasional additional onsite days during key deadlines)
Our client, a globally recognized luxury fashion brand known for its iconic accessories and strong presence within a major fashion group, is seeking a Temp Leather Goods Designer (Mainline) to support their design team during a maternity leave coverage.
This role will focus on the brand’s core handbag and small leather goods collections
, working closely with cross-functional teams to bring seasonal concepts to life from initial idea through final product.
The Designer will play a key role in supporting the creative development of leather goods and SLGs, contributing to seasonal design direction while ensuring strong execution and organization throughout the process.
This is a highly collaborative, hands‑on role ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast‑paced, creative environment and has strong technical design skills.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct trend, market, and material research to inform seasonal design direction
- Design and sketch new handbag and small leather goods concepts aligned with brand vision
- Create detailed CADs and technical specification packages, clearly communicating design intent, materials, and construction
- Support development of mood boards, presentations, and seasonal design reviews
- Partner cross-functionally with Merchandising, Product Development, Tech Design, Hardware, and Print teams to bring products from concept to production
- Maintain organization across multiple projects, ensuring timelines and deliverables are met
- 4+ years of experience in leather goods or accessories design
- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Accessories Design, or related field
- Strong proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Excel
- Strong sketching ability and eye for color, materials, and trends
- Experience creating CADs and technical design packages
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast‑paced environment
- Strong communication skills and collaborative mindset
