Associate Commerce Editor – New York Post
We’re hiring an Associate Commerce Editor for the revenue-generating commerce team. This role balances daily writing with foundational editing responsibilities, serving as a critical bridge between our reporting and editing desks. The position requires producing and editing high‑traffic commerce stories that drive conversions and revenue across the Post’s digital network.
Responsibilities- Write 2–3 commerce stories per shift (deals, explainers, how‑to guides, buyer’s guides) to maintain consistent daily revenue‑generating output.
- Edit 15+ fast‑turn deals and standard shopping content daily from reporters, moving copy from draft to live with speed, ensuring clean formatting, airtight affiliate linking, and FTC compliance.
- Take point on executing sponsored content and flat‑fee product placements, weaving revenue‑driven partnerships into coverage while maintaining reader trust and the iconic Post voice.
- Report, write, or co‑edit larger, high‑priority features and tentpole packages (Prime Day, Black Friday, Cyber Week) as assigned by leadership.
- Audit and update top‑performing evergreen posts for price, stock, and SEO/AEO/GEO optimization to maximize long‑tail revenue.
- Write sharp, on‑brand headlines (providing 3–5 variants for testing) and give constructive feedback to reporters to maintain voice and standards.
- Monitor performance dashboards to iterate headlines, framing, and placement, and pitch high‑intent stories based on search data, real‑time signals, and competitor coverage.
- Maintain daily writing output and reliable, rapid editing of assigned copy, ensuring on‑time handoffs.
- Consistent daily writing output (2–3 stories) combined with reliable, rapid editing.
- Clean copy and rigorous fact‑checking, zero avoidable corrections, strict link hygiene.
- Measurable lift in CTR, conversion rates, revenue per session, and search visibility for both authored and edited pieces.
- Progress in editorial decision‑making, proactive pitching, and seamless pivot between writing and editing mindsets.
- Associate‑level experience in features, news, or commerce writing, with a portfolio of strong clips and early editing experience or demonstrated aptitude.
- Strong obsession with the commerce landscape, reader value, and service‑oriented content with a commercial focus.
- Mastery of the iconic NY Post voice and proven record of writing crisp, authoritative headlines.
- Working knowledge of SEO, AEO, and GEO, plus social media best practices.
- Comfort reading dashboards (Search Console, GA4, Looker, or similar) and using data to pivot quickly to trends or live news without sacrificing accuracy.
- CMS fluency and sharp attention to detail, including mastery of AP style and FTC‑compliant disclosures.
- Collaborative, growth‑oriented mindset – highly organized, adaptable, and ready to take on coaching responsibilities.
- Hands‑on familiarity with affiliate dashboards and networks (Amazon Associates, Skimlinks, or similar), project management platforms, and SEO tools.
- Experience jumping between categories and services that help shoppers protect value.
- Deeper understanding of AEO, GEO, and AI overviews.
- Newsletter experience.
On‑site work model: expected to report into the office 5 days per week.

$70,000 – $80,000. Compensation may vary based on experience, skills, location, and other factors. Bonus and benefits eligibility are determined based on market benchmarks, individual contributions, and other considerations.
