Create your dance reel for college applications, auditions and grants, with GALLIM & Cinematographer & Editor Ashli Blickford.

Editing reels can be time consuming, pricey, and generally, just A LOT. This workshop teaches self-sufficiency so you can confidently create, update, and share your reels and work.

Over two days, students will receive editing and camera classes, coaching on filming yourself and others performing repertory and improvisation, learn GALLIM repertory, editing basics and support, and mentorship with Ashli Bickford throughout the process. By using a combination of your preexisting footage and new dance vocabulary learned, you will walk away with a polished reel and the skills to produce more in the future.

Saturday 10/11
10:00–12:00 — Camera workshop: reel overview, filming repertory and improv
12:00–12:15 — Break
12:15–1:15 — GALLIM Methods with Marc Gutierrez
1:15–3:15 — SAMA Repertory with Marc Gutierrez
3:15–3:30 — Break
3:30–5:00 — Film yourself doing the repertory

Sunday 10/12
10:00–11:00 — GALLIM Methods with India Hobbs
11:00–11:15 — Break
11:15–12:30 — Film your improv
12:30–1:00 — Break
1:00–2:00 — Editing class
2:00–4:00 — Edit your reel, share and receive feedback

A full Emergent Artist Scholarship will be awarded to an artist of the global majority, including but not limited to Black and African American, Asian, Hispanic and Latino/a/x, Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander, American Indian or Alaska Native, Middle Eastern or North African, and multiracial communities.

A full work-study scholarship will be awarded. This opportunity is designed for students with an interest in arts administration and may include on-site responsibilities and administrative work before and after the intensive.
