Who We Are
Tired of the status quo of pet food, The Farmer’s Dog is on a mission to transform pet health by delivering fresh, personalized dog food directly to customers’ doors. We’re a direct‑to‑consumer company committed to honesty, smart care, and dynamic culture.
What We Stand For and Where You’ll Come InThe Farmer’s Dog is looking for a Director of Art and Design to lead and evolve our visual identity across every customer touchpoint—from integrated brand campaigns and packaging to social content and physical installations. Reporting directly into our VP, Creative, you’ll manage a team of designers and partner closely with our Creative Director to ensure our brand shows up distinctively and cohesively everywhere it lives.
HowYou’ll Make An Impact
- Lead art and design efforts for integrated 360 brand campaigns, fast‑twitch social content, packaging, and installations.
- Direct new explorations of look and feel, adapting and evolving brand guidelines, and crafting a proprietary, brand‑true visual voice across photography, art direction, typography, and other visual expression.
- Manage a team of designers to create effective, distinctive, and cohesive design systems while inspiring bold ideas and maintaining consistency.
- Partner with the Creative Director on TVC, video, OOH, and other major advertising assets, advising on art direction and leading the intersection of graphic elements and typography.
- Navigate multiple roles—from strategic creative beacon to meticulous air‑traffic controller to devoted mentor and detail‑oriented checker.
- Work closely with Brand operations to plan resourcing, track bandwidth, and maintain project and production schedules.
- Collaborate with Product Design leadership to ensure all surfaces feel of one brand.
- Engage stakeholders across departments to meet and exceed business goals, immersing in product expertise and shepherding creative ideas through the vetting process.
- You have 10+ years of experience, including 2+ years as a Design Director within an agency and/or in‑house team; a portfolio with creative, relevant work you led is required.
- You have managed a team of creatives and value mentorship, viewing the growth of your direct reports as your own success.
- You possess a deep design background and can discuss kerning as comfortably as critiquing headlines.
- You have significant experience designing physical builds, developing packaging, and navigating retail environments.
- You have worked within static and video; direct motion design skills are not required, but a love of video media and storytelling is.
- You can quickly grasp and bring to life a brand’s visual identity, driving detail‑level quality.
- You specialize in untangling problems, clearing confusion, and pushing past blockers, coaching your team to do the same.
- You are adaptable to varied working styles, mindsets, and personalities, welcoming collaboration.
- You’re a true dog person—even if you don’t have one.
We are an in‑office culture that thrives on collaboration and shared space. All team members are expected to be in the office 4-5 days a week. This policy may change at the company’s discretion.
Our Belonging PhilosophyBelonging is a shared commitment to a workplace where everyone feels respected, valued, and empowered to be themselves. We believe that true belonging fosters better work, smarter risks, and stronger relationships.
