Base pay range

$65,000.00/yr - $74,000.00/yr

About the role

The Guardian is seeking an Editorial Coordinator to provide research, editorial support and contribute to content on the Filter US team. This new commerce section at Guardian US will offer buying guides, reviews and advice to help inform readers so they can make smart, sustainable choices. An editorial coordinator will be an essential part of this team, and will help improve the quality, accuracy and rigor of the stories it produces.

Key responsibilities

  • Support the editor and commissioning editor with editorial and research tasks, including (but not limited to) organizing and assisting with product tests, photographic shoots, setting up interviews, collating guides etc.
  • Serve as a crucial final check in the editorial process, generating affiliate links, verifying links and prices provided by writers and editors, and fact-checking product details.
  • Ensure previously published guides are up to date, with fresh links, pricing, etc.
  • Be an enthusiastic, collaborative member of a small team and get involved with ideas, forward-planning and commissioning meetings as necessary.
  • Support Production and Audience team members.
  • Collaborate with other editorial desks to build knowledge and create efficient ways of working.
  • Potentially contribute to gift guides, newsletters, reader-response stories and other forms of content.
  • Assist with content creation for social media accounts as necessary.

About you

  • Demonstrable experience of digital journalism.
  • Very organized with effective time-management skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and on deadline.
  • Great communication skills within and outside the team.
  • Motivated and proactive – can work without supervision.
  • Curious about all aspects of journalism and always trying to learn and grow.
  • Resilient and able to be flexible according to the needs of the team.
  • A real enthusiasm for consumer journalism and how Guardian readers' needs differ from those of other consumers.
  • A knowledge or understanding of consumer reviews and affiliate marketing within a news publisher is desirable.
  • A demonstrable ability to bring a diverse perspective to this role.
