ABC News is seeking a Manager, Publicity for the Longform team covering ABC News Studios, and leading "Nightline" and "IMPACT x Nightline" with opportunities to support "20/20" and "The View" including day-to-day publicity efforts.
Responsibilities- Strategize to identify key opportunities for shows and titles that align with company PR objectives while understanding the news cycle.
- Help to identify areas of team growth; for example, relationship building with key press contacts, identifying new outlets/platforms/contacts for promotion and outreach to content creators to support promotion on social.
- Create and execute comprehensive strategies working with producers and key partners.
- Pitch targeted opportunities.
- Create comprehensive messaging and conduct interview prep.
- Build relationships with key internal and external talent.
- Seek opportunities to further develop relationships with media partners cultivating key journalist/producer relationships.
- Craft press releases including announcements, listings and ratings providing valuable input on announcement releases and strategy.
- Help in organizing and staffing promotional events, junkets including outreach to talent, press and coordinating all logistical details.
- At least five years’ experience in public relations, corporate communications or related field.
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple campaigns at any given time.
- Strong work ethic and demonstrated ability to secure earned media.
- Talent relations experience.
- Crisis communications experience.
- Must be willing to work a flexible schedule including weekend days.
- Strong writing and presentation skills.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Strong understanding of social media integrations; experience running successful social media campaigns.
- Strong, collaborative, professional, respectful and kind team player.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
- BA or BS from a four-year accredited college or university; or equivalent work experience.
- Experience working in news, television, media and/or politics.
The hiring range for this position in New York, NY is $89,000.00 to $ per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
