About the Company

Our client is the world's leading online learning platform — a well‑funded, mission‑driven company that gives anyone access to lessons from the best minds on the planet. Founded in 2015 and backed by top‑tier institutional investors with $461M+ raised, the company has grown to ~790 employees and is actively transforming the way people learn, with cutting‑edge AI partnerships accelerating content discovery and delivery.

The

Opportunity

You will own the company's business content slate end‑to‑end — from pitching and development through shoot and delivery — producing 4–5 flagship classes per year alongside the world's top business minds. This is a maker role, not a buyer role: you will be in the chair conducting interviews, writing curriculum, and running sets on tight, compressed timelines.

The production cadence is fast and deliberate: 4–5 weeks of prep, 1–2 shoot days, 7 weeks of post. The goal is premium, planned, educational storytelling that genuinely changes people's careers and lives — not reactive filming or documentary‑pace schedules.

What You’ll Do
  • Generate a constant pipeline of business class ideas, pitch instructors and topics, and shepherd 4–5 classes per year from development through delivery.
  • Lead interviews in camera with world‑class business figures, pushing past surface‑level answers to unlock the real story.
  • Write non‑fiction scripts, interview questions, curriculum outlines, and creative briefs that translate complex business concepts into compelling, educational narratives.
  • Lead and mentor a team of producers while collaborating cross‑functionally with Marketing, Post, GFX, and Production.
  • Oversee shoots on‑set and in post, ensuring every class meets the platform's premium visual and editorial standards on tight turnarounds.
  • Manage a multi‑title slate (4–5 projects/year) from development through post, including curriculum/outline writing, shoot oversight, and editorial notes — not just single‑project production.
Requirements
  • 15+ years producing non‑fiction/factual content, with at least 5 years creating business‑focused content at EP level.
  • Credits as EP, Show runner, Creative Producer, or Director on premium factual TV or documentary (major streaming or broadcast) — not associate producer or production executive titles.
  • Deep business domain fluency: has produced 5+ classes/episodes/series on business topics (entrepreneurship, strategy, finance, leadership) — not a one‑off.
  • Experience directing or interviewing high‑profile celebrity/executive talent on set (C‑suite, public figures, celebrities) — not just producing from behind the scenes.
  • Has been involved in a show from its early episodes (1–5), not joined an established template mid‑run — early credits signal they helped build the show, not just execute it.
  • Must submit a credits list or portfolio link (IMDb, Vimeo, or equivalent) showing named producing/directing credits on recognizable projects.
  • Has made both premium documentary and non‑fiction television — dual background proves ability to produce with craft AND at speed.
  • Can write non‑fiction interview questions that extract specific, pre‑planned story beats — not just open‑ended questions; must demonstrate ability to redirect talent who gives surface‑level answers.
  • Comfortable with fast production turnarounds — can develop, shoot, and deliver a 60–90 min class on compressed timelines without sacrificing quality.
Nice to Have
  • Based in or willing to work primarily from LA, NYC, or SF; must have valid passport for occasional international shoots.
  • Experience with AI‑enhanced or AI‑adjacent content production workflows.
  • Familiarity with educational content structures and curriculum design.
Traits to Avoid
  • Pure studio/streaming executives who acquire/greenlight content but don’t produce hands‑on — this is a maker role, not a buyer role.
  • Candidates whose only business content experience is in‑house branded/corporate video (e.g. Bloomberg internal, You Tube channels) with no mass‑market distribution.
  • Pure documentary filmmakers with no TV credits — long post cycles (6–12 months) and no experience with fast turnarounds is a red flag.
