Pragmatic is looking for a Film/TV Literary Scout to join the team. We're open to candidates with various levels of experience, though at least three years of agency, scouting, publishing, or development experience is ideal. The person in this role will work alongside the company's principal in service of a select list of high-profile producer, studio, and creative clients.
Responsibilities- Bringing in manuscripts and other material via relationships in US & international publishing markets
- Maintaining and managing material and client databases
- Preparing daily tracking reports, contributing to twice-weekly client reports, and drafting bespoke research reports
- Reading and articulating a POV on manuscripts, articles, and other IP within the context of client mandates and the book-to-screen market
- Responding promptly, thoughtfully, and cheerfully to client inquiries for material, rights information and other intelligence
- Recruiting and managing interns and readers
- Occasional work on special projects in Pragmatic's related publishing, film/TV, and marketing consulting activities
The role requires robust communication skills, personability, a commitment to client service, a voracious appetite for reading and articulating a POV on material, and attention to detail, as well as existing relationships in publishing/film/TV, and discretion with high profile clients.
We're primarily remote, though candidates in New York are preferred, and since we work across borders, we're interested to know if you speak/read any languages in addition to English.
Pay is competitive and commensurate with experience, and benefits include medical/dental/vision, paid vacation, and a 2-week holiday closure. We offer a collegial, collaborative environment with room for growth.
