Remote/Hybrid‑NY
The ACLU seeks an Undergraduate Intern on the Multimedia team in the Communications Department of the ACLU’s National office. This full‑time or part‑time position can be remote or based in our NY Office.
Qualifying applicants must currently be matriculated undergraduate students or have an equivalent combination of education and/or experience and must be based in the U.S. for the entire duration of the internship.
The TeamThe ACLU Communications department creates, maintains, and expands message narratives to engage our supporters and other target audiences, protecting and expanding civil liberties and civil rights. Through our messaging, engagement with news makers, and video, audio and visual storytelling, we encourage support for the ACLU and help build a more perfect union.
What You’ll DoThe Multimedia intern is an integral member of the Creative Services team. They support the team by doing research, drafting scripts and paper edits, transcribing and reviewing interview footage, editing videos, assisting on shoots and interviews, and participating in brainstorms and meetings.
Your Day to Day Podcast- Pitch topics and provide background research for each episode
- Assist with remote and in‑person episode tapings
- Edit podcast taping transcripts and prepare publish packaging for episodes.
- Research video topics, draft scripts, review and transcribe video footage.
- Edit short videos for social media, if able, and copyedit video content.
- Assist with remote or in‑person video recording sessions or photo shoots.
- Demonstrated interest in video production, photography, journalism, and storytelling.
- Excellent writing and research skills.
- Experience with video editing and working in an editorial environment preferred.
- Able to juggle multiple tasks and prioritize.

Remote or hybrid; part‑time or full‑time. - Time Commitment
:
Part‑time (10, 15 or 20 hours/week) or Full‑time (35 hours/week). - Duration
:
Full‑time internships span 10 consecutive weeks; part‑time internships span 12 weeks. Start dates:
September 8 th or September 21 th
. - Stipend
: $20 / hour for undergraduate students or equivalent experience. Stipend and educational credit arrangements available.
