Mashable seeks a deputy digital culture and engagement editor with deep familiarity with online trends, the latest tech hardware and software, and creator culture.

The ideal candidate is obsessed with digital culture—tracking Tik Tok trends, decoding the influencer economy, following new internet subcultures, exploring how creators shape the online world—and brings sharp insights and compelling stories to life at Mashable.

They can quickly edit and write news hits, spot trends on social platforms, coach the team in trend writing, and create content across formats including video. They handle sensitive topics and have knowledge of pop culture and current events.

• Obsessed with internet and social media, content creators, and Gen‑Z trends.
• Up to date on latest tech releases, from iPhones to Teslas and AI chatbots.
• Detail‑oriented writer with a knack for compelling story ideas and strong headlines.
• Self‑starter and organized professional thriving in fast‑paced environments.
• Team player valuing colleagues’ success and Mashable’s goals.
• Excellent AP‑style writer who turns around clean copy quickly.
• Well‑versed in SEO and supporting content strategy on social platforms.
• Willing to discuss daily events and find interesting angles.

• Write breaking news hits, evergreen pieces, and feature stories.
• Write about the creator economy and social trends.
• Promote Mashable content on social media, brand‑building.
• Cover phones, apps, and tech developments conversationally.
• Research new subjects to pivot coverage daily.
• Proactively pitch stories and source angles on tech and digital culture topics.
• Elevate journalism quality with forward‑looking enterprise content.
• Engage audiences via social platforms.
• Review and write about new product and software releases (incl affiliate linking).
• Write content around product deals with affiliate links.

• 2+ years as a digital culture or engagement editor.
• Ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
• Strong communication skills.
• Knowledge of digital space and Mashable’s core coverage areas.
• Understand audience listening and use trending, engagement, and historical data to drive content plans.

The salary range for this role is $63,000 to $75,000, based on experience, scope, and performance.
