- Edit a new daily evening flagship that delves deeper into the day’s most important or compelling news.
- Work with newsletter writer and team leadership to set and execute strategic goals for the newsletter.
- Partner with assigned coverage teams from around the CNN and own their newsletter portfolios.
- Evaluate and optimize performance of existing newsletters.
- Work with news and audience leaders to identify new topics/audience segments to target with newsletters.
- Write, edit, produce, and send newsletters as needed.
- Regularly pitch new ideas for newsletter products to team leadership.
- 5-7 years of relevant experience, including writing or editing on a daily deadline.
- A copy editor’s eye for style and formatting errors.
- Fluency in newsletter best practices and email metrics.
- A confident generalist with great news judgment.
- A strategic thinker who can connect the team’s daily work to the organization’s larger goals.
- A creative thinker who can use data to spot trends, spark new ideas, and generate actionable recommendations.
- A clear communicator and proactive collaborator.
