Location: New York
The Office of Student Engagement oversees community building programs and seeks a student worker to support programming for commuter students. This position reports to the Associate Director for Recreation & Commuter Engagement. The New School was founded by forward‑thinking educators in 1919 to defy the intellectual constraints of a traditional college education.
Responsibilities- Craft visual and written content for OSE digital and physical platforms to promote Recreation and Commuter Engagement initiatives, including any event Gnarls attends.
- Assist in the marketing plan and promotion of OSE programs, including review and maintenance of websites and social media accounts (examples include but are not limited to: Narwhal Nation, Instagram, Twitter, Whats App).
- Create, organize, and coordinate reusable assets utilized for specific events, programs, and series put on by OSE and Recreation & Commuter Engagement (templates, guidelines, standards, logos).
- Collaborate and coordinate with students and staff to work collaboratively on short‑term and long‑term projects that require graphic design.
- Maintain a confidential work environment.
- This Position requires a Federal Work‑Study Award.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Google Suite, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Can work with The New School's branding and style guides to create a suite of coherent collateral across Student Success.
- Demonstrated commitment to inclusivity and social justice.
- Understanding of intersectionality and universally accessible design.
- Ability to creatively problem solve, multi‑task, and function in a collaborative work environment.
- Capacity to provide and receive constructive critique.
- Understanding and interest in contemporary and emerging digital trends.
Hybrid/Split – Employees hired for this position have a regularly scheduled, consistent percentage of time on campus (ex. 1–4×/week) and also work some of the time remotely.
Hourly RateUSD 18–20 per hour
