Visual Investigations Producer – CNN
The Visual Investigations Producer is a highly skilled reporter/producer responsible for producing groundbreaking video journalism using OSINT and digital forensic tools to hold powerful people and institutions accountable. The role requires a self-starter with deep curiosity, ability to work on a team, and strong editorial judgment.
Responsibilities- Create compelling video journalism for digital and linear platforms.
- Conduct deep-dive open-source research and verification using advanced digital forensic tools (video verification, AI detection, geolocation, chronolocation, social media scraping, metadata analysis, satellite imagery, marine and flight tracking).
- Conceive, produce, and oversee motion graphics and animations, including 3D animation when necessary.
- Develop and execute digital video investigations from pre-production through post-production.
- Assist in or write text stories for CNN’s digital platforms.
- Produce live segments, in the field, studio, or remote network locations.
- Conduct story research and news gathering, including visuals, scripting, editing, and execution on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Develop story pitches, research investigative ideas, and participate in brainstorming meetings.
- Research and secure interviews with individuals and sources, pre‑interview potential characters, and gather facts, photos, documents and other research materials.
- Identify, research, and locate video clips and sound bites; conceive and produce creative, dynamic graphics.
- Produce field shoots, determine locations, set up interviews, and secure necessary permissions.
- Work closely with Senior and Supervising Producers, Senior Writers and Correspondents.
- Uphold and advance CNN’s journalistic standards, ethics, and commitment to impactful storytelling.
- Minimum of 5 years production experience in news television or digital video journalism, with investigative reporting experience essential.
- BA/BS in journalism, politics, or a related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
- Strong news judgment, written and verbal communication, interpersonal, research, and production skills.
- Past reporting and field experience an advantage.
- Knowledge of photojournalism, cameras, editing, and animation software a plus.
Pay Range: $77,840.00 - $ salary per year. Additional rewards may include annual bonuses, short‑ and long‑term incentives, and program‑specific awards.
