Andy Warhol Preserve Artist Workshop 2026

The Andy Warhol Visual Arts Program is a collaborative initiative supported by the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts and organized by The Nature Conservancy in New York, a regional branch of the global environmental nonprofit dedicated to conserving lands, waters, and ecosystems through science, conservation action, and community engagement.

The program was established to honor Andy Warhol’s legacy and his connection to creative exploration, environmental awareness, and artistic expression. It brings together artists, students, and educators to explore the relationship between art and the natural world through outdoor creative experiences.

The program takes place at the Andy Warhol Preserve, a unique ocean‑front natural property in Montauk, New York. The preserve was donated to The Nature Conservancy by the Andy Warhol Foundation in 1992 and remains generally closed to the public, making the program a rare opportunity for selected artists to access and engage with this special landscape.

Through artist‑led workshops, the program encourages participants to discover new ways of observing, interpreting, and representing nature through visual arts practices. The initiative supports artists who can create meaningful educational and participatory experiences that connect diverse audiences with the beauty and artistic potential of the natural environment.

Title & Description 2026 Andy Warhol Visual Arts Program

The Andy Warhol Visual Arts Program invites artists to propose and lead outdoor art‑making workshops at the Andy Warhol Preserve in Montauk, New York, during fall 2026.

Selected artists will design workshops inspired by the preserve’s coastal landscape, natural surroundings, and ecological character. The workshops should encourage participants of different ages and experience levels to engage creatively with nature through visual art practices.

The program seeks artists who can develop accessible, engaging, and environmentally connected artistic experiences. Applicants are encouraged to propose workshops that reflect their own artistic approach while creating opportunities for community learning, experimentation, and appreciation of the natural world.

Four artists will be selected by the program’s committee to lead workshops at this historic and rarely accessible location.

  • Artists capable of designing workshops suitable for participants of different ages

Preferred applicants include:

  • Artists who can conduct activities in a fully outdoor environment
