## Photographer Assistant for School Picture Company (NYC)

Great assistants help create the mood of the day: calm when things get hectic, warm when kids feel nervous, energy when the room needs it. You'll help thousands of students feel comfortable and confident in front of the camera — and you'll build real-world skills in teamwork, communication, logistics, and photography along the way.
At SGP, you'll become part of a creative community. Our assistants and photographers work closely together and share knowledge generously. Many of our assistants grow into photographer roles over time.
HIRING INFO
• Required week-long training the week of August 24
• Season runs mid-September through November, 3–5 days per week. For assistants who excel, there's often work through April.
THE JOB
• Start early mornings from our Brooklyn office and travel to school locations across the NY metro area (Punctuality is a must!)
• Drive company mini-vans to and from schools, equipment pickups, and supply runs
• Load, unload, set up, and break down professional studio lighting and camera equipment
• Help manage student flow and keep Picture Day running smoothly and on schedule
• Create a warm, fun environment where students, staff, and families feel excited about Picture Day
• Support Lead photographers and communicate closely with school staff and volunteers
• Communicate reliably via SlackWHO YOU ARE
• A calm, safe, and dependable driver with a valid driver's license
• Warm, outgoing, patient, and genuinely great with kids and adults
• Physically prepared for active workdays, including lifting and moving equipment up to 40 lbs
• Punctual, proactive, organized, and calm under pressure
• Comfortable in fast-paced, sometimes unpredictable environments
• Interested in photography, creative production and team-based work
• Experience with studio lighting or professional camera systems is a plus!
