Editorial Internship: Local News & Features; Hybrid

NOTE: This internship is hybrid, and interns are required to report once a week in person at our office located at 2 Clinton Ave in Rye, NY.

For more than two decades, Westchester Magazine has been the source for all things Westchester County. Want to know where to go for dinner tonight, what to do next weekend, or the newest businesses opening? It’s all right here. This internship is an opportunity to see how a monthly print magazine is put together.

The editorial print internship is unpaid (the student MUST be enrolled in an undergraduate/graduate program and be able to receive course credit.
Non-students will not be considered ).

Responsibilities Include:

• Contributing to issues of Westchester Magazine, our business publication 914
  
  INC, and our home publication Westchester Home
• Working one-on-one with members of our editorial staff
• Assisting photo editor with acquiring photos for print articles
• Assisting staff with other functions necessary to produce a monthly magazine and its website (mailing issues of our magazines to the subjects and writers that contribute to our magazine, various administrative duties, etc.).
• Attending weekly staff meetings to plan and organize content for future issues.

What We are Looking For:

• Students majoring in Journalism, English, Creative Writing, Communications, or other similar concentrations
• Excellent grammar, spelling, and attention to detail
• Experience writing for campus publications or previous internships
• Ability to meet deadlines
• A passion for seeking out local news, human interest features, and lifestyle angles
• Enthusiasm for contributing new ideas to the publication

This internship will run from mid-September to early December
