The Production department specializes in all forms of storytelling, including moving and still imagery, content, illustration, animation and graphics, audio, musical and sonic-led narratives, interactive/IRL experiences, and tech-based innovation/AI. We are stewards of a compelling and ever-evolving network of production partners and endeavor to create industry-defining creative executions. Key considerations at the heart of all our productions include budget and time management, ethical and sustainable solution planning, and innovative creative development and amplification.
Job Summary
The Music Supervisor provides comprehensive and effective support for our Music Supervisor EP throughout all stages of the production process while continuing to learn and, over time, beginning to take on increased responsibility for select projects. They must possess a comprehensive passion for and knowledge of how music impacts the visual medium. The Music Supervisor works with key decision-makers and/or the designated creative team/producer to collectively determine the musical vision, tone, and style that best suit the project.
Job Responsibilities
Research and study previous productions to develop a thorough understanding of industry and music production terminology, techniques, equipment, and processes.
Support the production process, gaining ownership opportunities by demonstrating control of assigned projects, including both internal-facing projects and external/public-facing executions.
Manage day-to-day communications and activities, including scheduling, reporting, billing, meeting arrangements, etc.
Interrogate and grow knowledge of D5 agency production, initiatives, and capabilities, as well as overall industry best practices.
Increase knowledge of music house partners, rates, and schedules.
Forge close relationships with assigned team members, striving to become a trusted creative ally and production confidant.
Adhere to established Droga5 administrative systems and agency best practices.
Work on projects across stock music, original music, and music supervision requirements.
Conduct music supervision searches within owned libraries.
Develop feasibility assessments and ballpark estimates for tracks.
AFM and SAG outreach for tracks of interest.
Independently run radio and stock searches, including creating briefs, selecting appropriate partners, negotiating costs, and coordinating licensing with Business Affairs.
Research rights holders and provide ballpark estimates for publishing and master rights.
Stay highly organized and track costs, song percentages, approvals, and asset sharing with partners.
Maintain up-to-date contacts with music rights partners.
Have a passion for attending concerts regularly, discovering new talent, and helping create new contacts and potential partners across all musical genres.
Help producers and Business Affairs with general music questions and inform them of D5 music best practices.
Send out briefs for licensed and stock searches.
Download all new music and help file and sort incoming music.
Edit and rough mix music to picture.
Help manage calendars and track job statuses.
Stay informed on the latest and best original music houses as potential partners.
Sharing assets and terms with music partners.
Basic Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in music licensing, production, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Proven ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work and collaborate as part of a team.
