About the RoleWe are seeking a fast, accurate reporter and writer who can offer insights into the biggest stories of the day, typically focused on U.S. equities. The reporter should write stories that deliver timely analysis—or an interesting angle—about topics that Barr’s readers are trying to understand. The ideal candidate would have a feel for web traffic and the kinds of stories that resonate online without sinking into clickbait.
The reporter will also be encouraged to write longer, deeply reported features and analytical pieces. Experience writing enterprise articles would be an advantage.
- Generate quick angles and strong ideas off the news and meet urgent deadlines.
- Familiarity with corporate balance sheets, financial valuations, and investing principles.
- Experience writing earnings reports, market commentary, and newsletter posts.
- Familiarity with U.S. markets and companies.
- At least one year of experience working as a reporter at a national or trade business news publication.
- Collaborative, diplomatic approach and confidence making fast, well‑thought‑out decisions.
- Knowledge of SEO best practices and a knack for writing snappy headlines and ledes.
Base Pay Range: $85,000 - $100,000. The role may be bonus‑eligible and offers a comprehensive benefits package covering health, retirement, wellbeing, and more.
