Job Description

The New York Post is looking for an experienced editor for a part‑time role with the Sunday staff. The editor will work as a line and assignment editor, possessing fine attention to detail, critical thinking skills, and the ability to transform breaking copy on deadline into the Post’s unique tabloid voice. The editor must mine, assign, and edit an array of stories—including impactful, quirky, and scandalous pieces—on immediate deadlines for the website and the Sunday print edition, and give clear direction to a team of award‑winning field reporters and in‑office journalists.

The Sunday team covers local, national and international news, investigates corruption, and delivers award‑winning long and short‑form journalism in a bold tabloid voice. The editor will also work an 8‑to‑10‑hour Saturday shift in the office, with the possibility of additional hours on Thursday and Friday.

• Bachelor’s degree or higher
• Minimum of 5 years of editing in a busy newsroom
• Comfortable editing/re‑writing both breaking news and long‑form stories in lively tabloid prose for web and print
• Understanding of the voice of the Post
• Ability to identify stories that readers crave
• Critical eye for facts and tone
• Broad knowledge base
• Willingness to collaborate and ability to communicate with a close‑knit team of NYC’s best journalists

Salary: $40−$50 per hour
