Sr. Social Media Producer

Responsibilities

• Work with CBS News talent, including O&Os and affiliates, to script, record and produce original social content
• Act as one of the leaders on the team, advising social media producers on story priorities, production techniques and best practices, in day-to-day coverage, breaking news situations and during special events.
• Appear on screen in original social videos and/or record voiceovers.
• Produce and edit original video packages for CBS News’ various social media channels and the CBS News Streaming Network.
• Develop strategy for social channels and the optimization of show content for social platforms.
• Utilize analytics to inform strategy and experimentation.
• Produce bespoke social content with talent, either as standalone social pieces or to preview segments on the show.
• Generate innovative and creative ideas for ways to drive tune-in and grow audience on social.
• Senior produce other producers’ video packages and scripts.
• Perform the role of a senior producer on original production shoots in the field.
• Provide supervisory coverage when necessary.
• Compose social headlines, articles and share language that are both highly shareable and consistent with the CBS News brand.
• Backfill other team members as needed.

• 6 to 8 years of social media or newsroom experience.
• Deep familiarity with social media platforms, audiences and best practices.
• The ability to write about a variety of topics in a strong, yet unbiased way.
• Strong writing skills with a demonstrated portfolio of published work.
• Strong producing and editing skills.
• Ability to quickly and exactly subtitle video for social, using both editing platforms and the text tools within Tik Tok and Instagram.
• Ability to work well with others under tight deadlines.
• Degree in journalism, communications or a related field.

Monday-Friday from 4 p.m. to 12 a.m. ET.

Hiring salary range: $ - $. The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
