Job DescriptionThe Times and The Sunday Times represent a combined 400 years of covering news and providing comment and analysis on the UK and the world. We are authoritative, credible, responsible, trusted and a part of the nation’s cultural heritage.
Your role :The Times and Sunday Times are hiring a US Editor , to lead and grow our team in America.
Day to day you will:- Lead our US team, publishing US-focused stories and curating the best of the Times and Sunday Times globally for American audiences.
- Lead our content and audience strategy, working closely with the UK to adhere to overall strategy tailored to US market.
- Create and execute a vision for our future growth and ‘voice’, playing a key role in planning future investment and what areas to grow.
- Oversee the daily publishing operation, liaising with our team of correspondents and UK desks to agree daily coverage plans and commission content.
- Work with audience and marketing daily to maximise content performance.
- Oversee content planning with the audience and marketing teams, ensuring alignment around key events.
- Manage the team and lead recruitment, with support from the UK.
- Devise and launch other digital products to grow audience e.g. newsletter, podcast.
- Reporting or editing experience at a national news organisation.
- Subject matter expertise: US news and politics, business, tech, society.
- Strong grasp of digital publishing, including search, social, video, graphics.
- Experience of staff management.
- Experience of creating or launching a new product desirable.
- Proven track record of collaborative working.
