Musical Accompanist

Cooperstown Central School District is seeking a skilled and collaborative Musical Accompanist to support the high school musical production. The accompanist will work closely with the vocal director, stage director, and student performers to provide piano accompaniment for rehearsals and performances.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide piano accompaniment for vocal rehearsals, soloists, small ensembles, and full cast rehearsals.
• Assist the vocal director during auditions, rehearsals, and performances.
• Support student performers musically by helping them stay on pitch, rhythm, and timing.
• Attend scheduled rehearsals after school, evenings, and weekends as needed.
• Accompany all technical and dress rehearsals, as well as all live performances.
• Communicate and collaborate effectively with the musical production team.
• Assist in adjusting musical pacing and dynamics to match staging and direction.

Qualifications:

• Proficient piano skills with the ability to sight-read and adapt to various musical styles.
• Prior experience accompanying theatrical or choral productions preferred.
• Strong understanding of musical theater performance and vocal accompaniment.
• Ability to work well with high school students in a supportive and professional manner.
• Flexible availability during the production season, including evenings and weekends.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
