Position

Description:

American Youth Dance Theater seeks experienced instructor to teach Tap classes on Wednesdays 3:30-6:15pm for the 2026/27 school year. Must have several years of experience teaching children and teens ages 4-12 and be experienced at choreographing polished recital dances.

Contract is for September through mid-June.

Principal duties include teaching weekly technique classes and choreographing dances for December and June recitals. Related duties include selecting recital music and costumes, attending 3 staff meetings (September, November and May) and completing year end student evaluations.

There are additional time requirements during recital weeks including dress/tech rehearsals on weekday afternoons-evenings and performances on Friday evening & Saturday matinees and evening.

• Minimum of 3 years teaching & choreography experience
• College or Masters degree in dance preferred, but not required
• Excellent classroom management skills, organizational skills and attention to detail
• Strong interpersonal skills and team spirit
