the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a technically minded Media Operations Technician to join the Daily Mail US production team. The role is ideal for someone with 2–3 years of experience in AV, broadcast, video production, live production, studio operations, or a related technical environment.

Working closely with editorial, production, video, and technical teams, you will help ensure that audio and video content is captured, processed, transferred, monitored, and delivered accurately and efficiently. You will provide hands‑on technical support for studio productions, interviews, live events, remote shoots, and day‑to‑day media operations.

This role requires strong technical aptitude, attention to detail, problem‑solving ability, and the confidence to work calmly in a fast‑paced digital media environment where deadlines and priorities can change quickly.

About What You'll Do
  • Set up, test, operate, and maintain professional audio and video equipment used for studio, live, remote, and editorial productions.
  • Provide hands‑on AV and technical support for interviews, live shoots, newsroom productions, events, and other media projects.
  • Monitor live and recorded audio and video feeds to identify and resolve technical or quality issues.
  • Ingest, transfer, organize, and prepare video and audio assets for production and digital distribution.
  • Perform quality control checks on media content, including audio levels, video quality, synchronization, resolution, frame rates, and file formats.
  • Troubleshoot cameras, microphones, monitors, playback systems, signal paths, and other production equipment.
  • Support production teams with technical setup, testing, and troubleshooting before and during productions.
  • Assist with the operation and monitoring of media servers, storage systems, file‑transfer platforms, and other media workflows.
  • Maintain production equipment and ensure studios and production spaces are properly configured and ready for use.
  • Follow established technical and media workflows to ensure content is delivered accurately and on deadline.
  • Work closely with producers, editors, journalists, photographers, and other technical staff to support daily production requirements.
  • Identify recurring technical issues and work with senior technical or engineering staff to resolve them and improve workflows.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment, technical issues, and operational procedures as required.
  • Provide occasional technical support outside standard hours, including evenings, weekends, or holidays, when required by live events, breaking news, or production schedules.
