WHAT WE EXPECT OF YOU SUMMARY

The NHL Productions Digital group is seeking a versatile and dynamic You Tube editor with a passion for visual storytelling. The ideal candidate is an innovative video content creator who is knowledgeable about the latest trends and best practices on the platform. This is a unique opportunity to work in a collaborative and fast‑paced environment, reaching millions of hockey fans worldwide through engaging video editing, clever copywriting, and creative trend awareness.

Candidates should be skilled in creating both long‑form and short‑form content. They should be able to produce engaging and dynamic vertical videos, with a passion for optimizing content to reach a diverse audience. Candidates must demonstrate strong creativity, adaptability, and the experience necessary to take a project from concept to completion. This process may include writing, shooting, producing, and managing post‑production tasks.

Lastly, this candidate has their finger on the pulse of the NHL and possesses a confident knowledge of current NHL news, trends, players, teams, and its history. Candidates are expected to understand how to create content for the game of hockey and its fans while maintaining the NHL's brand voice.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop and produce video content for the NHL's You Tube channels, focusing on both long‑form and short‑form content in horizontal and vertical formats.
  • Produce, edit, and syndicate weekly and sponsored deliverables, core‑NHL Digital programs, and features using Adobe Premiere and WSC Clipro and have a working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop.
  • Responsible for logging, creating, and maintaining well‑structured season‑long projects.
  • Media managing and syndicating video files, ensuring that they are delivered on time, organized appropriately and backed up regularly.
  • Monitor sports leagues, teams, broadcasters, and athlete accounts to identify trends, best practices, new audiences, new collaborations, and new ideas.
  • Develop and produce content created from NHL tentpole events (Player Media Tour, Winter Classic, Stadium Series, etc.)
  • Edit and produce fully‑finished video packages to be posted on  foreign language websites and social platforms in a timely manner.
  • Work alongside  International staff and translators to produce video content for  foreign language websites.
QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge Areas/Experience Required
  • 5-7+ years of experience producing multimedia content.
  • 5-7+ years of experience contributing to a You Tube channel strategy for a sports brand or media organization.
  • Thorough understanding of the You Tube landscape and You Tube-specific strategies, including social trends, viral sounds, pop culture, and other new and emerging platforms.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, with a focus on Adobe Premiere and Photoshop;
    After Effects and motion graphics design is a significant plus.
  • Experience with other video editing tools, including but not limited to Motion Array and WSC Clip Pro.
  • Strong knowledge of video formats, compression, and media management.
  • Advanced knowledge of the You Tube platform with an understanding of the competitive landscape, the way fans consume NHL content on the platform, all features, and opportunities on You Tube and Google, and SEO knowledge to improve the title and description creation.

  • Passionate about the game of hockey, the storylines surrounding its players, coaches, teams, rules, standings, and the history of the league, as well as an understanding of hockey stats and analytics.
