Supervising Video Producer, The New Yorker
The Supervising Video Producer screens film submissions, produces, shoots, and edits videos that support the magazine’s visual storytelling. This is a hands‑on editing and production role that also provides opportunities to develop original videos and recurring series in collaboration with New Yorker writers and editors. In addition to overseeing day‑to‑day production, scheduling, and shepherding projects through the editorial process, the Supervising Producer plays a key creative role in working directly with filmmakers and shaping the voice and style of The New Yorker’s video storytelling.
The role requires meticulous organizational skills and a systems‑oriented mindset when it comes to establishing and maintaining video workflows. The applicant should have sound journalistic judgment, technical fluency, and a deep understanding of The New Yorker’s tone and approach to storytelling.
The successful candidate will have exceptional editing and production skills; the ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines; experience with documentary and journalistic storytelling; and a strong understanding of emerging video formats, techniques, and social platforms. They should bring a collaborative approach to working with writers, editors, filmmakers, and production teams, along with a portfolio that demonstrates creativity, resourcefulness, and excellence across a range of formats, including short news pieces, cinematic documentaries, and recurring video series.
