Razom is seeking a Cinema Program intern to help coordinate and engage in film screenings, festival programming, and Ukrainian cinema initiatives.

Candidates must be studying or working towards a university degree in the United States. This position is paid, part-time, with some in-person components, based out of the Razom office in New York. A filmmaking background and understanding of the film industry landscape is strongly preferred. Knowledge of Ukrainian cinema is a great asset, but not required, as this internship is an opportunity to dive into the Ukrainian cinematic world.

Internship hours and duration can be adjusted to accommodate schedules, with some portion of the work being remote. We encourage candidates to explore university funding or college credit options, if applicable. At Razom, mentorship is highly valued, and interns are exposed to different Razom initiatives over the course of their internships.

Background

Razom Cinema, part of the Connect pillar of Razom, is seeking a Fall semester intern to support the program’s film program and collaborations. The best candidate is someone with a filmmaking background and comfortable with technical support for screening events. The intern will also assist with media management tasks such as graphic design and video editing — experience with Adobe Suite programs (Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Illustrator, or Lightroom), in addition to Canva, is required.

The internship also provides training on how to run film festivals (programming, artist relations, and more), event strategy, communication with experts, logistics, marketing, and audience engagement. This is accomplished through the upcoming collaborations with theater institutions in NYC and in other states, under the supervision of the Razom Cinema Lead. The internship is also an opportunity for the candidate to continue strengthening video editing skills and learn how to create gripping content, both short- and long-form.

Objective

The main objective of this internship is to ensure the successful planning, execution, and follow-up on film programs and media-related tasks during the Fall semester.

Scope of Work

Working with the Head of Razom Cinema, the intern will be responsible for:

  • Supporting logistics and coordination of events, including screenings and other film programming
  • Assisting with marketing and technical deliverables from each film team, including DCP formats, graphic assets, and other needs.
  • Assisting with graphic design, video editing, and other media tasks
  • Writing impact reports on cinema programs and preparing materials for external communications channels
  • Collecting audio-visual assets from contractors during the festival for external communications
  • Supporting PR efforts in communicating about the film festival portion of the Ukrainian Cultural Festival (UCF)
  • Together with Razom Cinema Program Coordinator, conducting research on Ukrainian cinema and related programming opportunities:
    • Helping build relationships with local art institutions for future collaborations
    • Taking and maintaining notes and assisting with task management
Desired qualifications
  • Available to work 10-15 hours per week
  • Experience with Adobe Suite, with a preference for Photoshop, Premiere, Illustrator, or Lightroom. Additional experience with Slack, Asana, and Google suite is preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Adept at problem solving and creative thinking
  • Demonstrated leadership and ability to work independently
